IMPORTANT INFORMATION
USFS staff have been up to the Schreiber’s Meadows area and found a serious issue with the trail especially for stock. A flood event came down during the winter and covered the snow from the lower meadow, the first one you come to, to Rocky Creek, the glacier fed flow with the rocky crossing. The snow under the flood debris is still there and is melting out from below. Hikers have fallen thru in some cases as deep as 6 feet. Horses would be badly damaged if this were to happen to them. The USFS is considering the trail closed to stock at this point until this mess melts out or is cleared. Additionally, the road to the trailhead is still not repaired and has the very narrow slide area restricting trucks and trailers.
